The Irish Fennells

Has anybody being doing their family tree for their irish branch of the family?
My family originally came from Celbridge, Co Kildare, Ireland and i have completed a very comprehensive family tree.
Unfortunately, I have been only able to go back to 1873. My greatgrandfather, william Fennell, married Catherine Rowley on the 23rd November 1873. I have a copy of the marriage certificate, but, in the column marked "name and occupation of father", is marked "unknown". I know fron the census return of 1901 that his county of birth is shown as Kildare.
I also know that there was a Fennell family in Maynooth and another in Mainham.
Any information would be appreciated
