Urgently seeking details on a Mary FENN buried in the Smythesdale Cemetery, Victoria, Australia sometime during the 1880s. Mary is buried in same grave as my Great-great-auntie's husband Henry BOARDMAN however I am unaware of exactly who Mary FENN is!! Henry (born in Ireland) married my great grandfather's (John MULLIN) sister Maria MULLIN at Ballarat in 1861. Maria was born in Belfast, Ulster ~ 1841 daughter of a William MULLIN, civil engineer/Government surveyor and Mary nee PATTERSON, a nurse. Maria came to Australia ~ 1850 with her mother, a brother John (born Liverpool in 1846) & a sister Matilda Jane (born ~ 1833 in Belfast, Ulster). It is believed that William died overseas so Mary brought the children to Australia. Maria married a Henry BOARDMAN at Ballaarat Christ Church in 1861 & at that time was living at Smythes Creek, near Ballaarat. The couple lived there and at Illabarook Creek during the period 1861 to 1866. They had 3 children: Jacob (1864), Eliza Ethel (1862) & Henrietta (1866), however both Ethel & Henrietta do not have any living descendant although they did marry. No details of Jacob are known except for his birth! In 1866 Henry died as a result of a horse riding accident; which, according to the inquest occurred somewhere on the road between Smythesdale & Scarsdale. Henry's widow Maria is not however buried with him but a Mary FENN is! I believe she was interred during the 1880s. Is she perhaps Mary MULLIN (nee Patterson), mother of Maria under a different surname? Maybe she married again after William's death? I simply do not know. Can anyone please shed some light on who Mary FENN was? Thanking you in anticipation.
