The front page of the March 14 1923 "Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle" had the following obituary. S.W. Felts to be Buried Today Prominent Citizen of County Victim of 18 Month's Illness Services will be conducted at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon by Dr. W C Reeves of the First Baptist church at the home of J B Felts on the Nashville turnpike for Sam W. Felts, who died at 11 o'clock Monday night, following an illness of eighteen months. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Felts, who for many years has been a prominent citizen of the county is survived by his wife and nine children, including Ernest Felts of Chicago; Mrs. Frank Lyddy of Oklahoma; Mrs. G T Coleman of this city; Mrs. J K Kerr, of Aberdeen Texas; Mrs. R P Jones (Jobe) and Mrs. Burt Chadwick of Danville, Tenn and W M Felts, Oscar and Lawrence Felts of Detroit. Mr. Felts is also survived by two brothers J B and Z C Felts of this county and four sisters, Mrs. J W Blackwell, Mrs. J A Haynes and Mrs. S M Bard (Byard) of this county and Mrs. C N Hester of Texas. Mr. Felts had many warm friends over the county who learn with deep sorrow of his death. Samuel Watson Felts was the son of Benjamin and Sara Rebecca Allen Felts. He married Emma E Ferrell.
