The following obituary appeared on the front page in the Jan 2 1923 issue of "The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle" Clarksville TN. Progenitor of 133 Dies at 88 Mrs. S R Felts, Mother of 7, Grandmother of 30 and Great - Grandmother of 96 The death at 7:30 o'clock, Monday night at the home of her son, J B Felts, on the Paradise Road of Mrs. Sarah Rebecca Felts, 88 years of age on June 12, last, probably removed from Montgomery county the progenitor of the largest family. Mrs. Felts is survived by 133 direct blood descendants, seven children, 30 grandchildren, ninety-five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren. The children are: S W Felts of Doddsville; J B Felts of Clarksville; Z C Felts of Cumberland City; Mrs Buck (Bud) Byard of this county; Mrs. J W Blackwell of Cumberland Furnace; Mrs. Lou Hester of Quinceland Texas and Mrs. Lizzie Haynes of this county. Mrs. Felts' death was due to indigestiion and other ailments incident to old age and followed a short illness. She was a member of the Baptist church, a good Christian woman and a good neighbor. She had lived in the vicinty of Clarksville for the past thirty-four years and was well known and beloved in a wide circle of friends. Services were conducted at the Turner burying ground in District 17 by Rev I W Keathley at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. A large number of sorrowing friends attended the services and interment.
