Hi Judi,

Thanks for your response, but now I have to make a correction to my original posting. Although Samuel GRIGGS of Newburgh, Ulster County, New York did marry an Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) based on the 1850 and 1860 censuses in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey, he apparently first married a Clara FELTER from New York based on the death certificate of one of his sons, Isaac GRIGGS (b: 1847, d: 1926). Samuel and Clara must have moved to New Jersey before she died because their son Isaac GRIGGS was born in New Jersey.

Also based on the death certificate of a son, an Elizabeth FELTON of Newburgh, New York did marry a GRIGGS, but his name was Daniel GRIGGS (b: ca 1787) also from Newburgh, New York. This Daniel GRIGGS was the brother of the above Samuel GRIGGS. Do you know if Elizabeth FELTER and Clara FELTER were sisters or related in someway?

Thanks for your help, Frank
