I am the director of a long term history and archaeology project on Feltville / Glenside Park, Union County New Jersey. Feltville was founded by David S. Felt, a well-known and successful printer/publisher and stationer from New England, who settled in New York and New Jersey midway through his career. I have most of the primary sources for historical information concerning the village, which flourished from 1845 to 1860 in central New Jersey, but I am obsessed and convinced that there will always be more data 'out there' to be gathered. Of course, I have both of Austin Craig's books (Felt's village minister), The Morrison genealogy, Littell's genealogy and a small collection of Stationers' Hall Press books (Felt's publishiong enterprise), as well as Johnson's and Hawley's brief historical accounts, The 1847 Home Journal article, a few newspaper clippings concerning David's bankrupcy, etc, and I am willing to share info from these in exchange for anything relevant which I have not yet seen. I am particularly interested in historical photographs (pre-1950), advertisements from Glenside Park, The Glenside Echo, oral traditions of the family, letters, diaries, journals, etc, etc. If you are interested in learning about the archaeological aspect of the project, please visit http://www.chss.montclair.edu/archaeology/NJFS.html Please contact me at tomasom@mail.montclair.edu if you can help!
