Shirley M.

I went to the Leonard, Texas Cemetery today and found the headstone for J. H. Felmet and Rachel E. Felmet. The particulars are as follows

J. H. Felmet born January 4, 1846
no death date

Rachel E. Felmet born July 21, 1845
died May 24, 1908

though not certain it can be assumed that Rachel died in the vicinity of Leonard. A son of J. H. & R. E. Felmet was also buried in the Leonard Cemetery.

M. T. Felmet (Moses T.)?
born October 16, 1869
died October 20, 1886

please note this stone was hard to read.

In addition, their son William Nimrod Felmet married my great aunt Bessie Viola Standlee in Hunt County Texas June 21, 1908. They migrated to Wade, Bryan County, Oklahoma. Bessie and William had 3 children; Doris Jeanette Felmet born 20 June 1910 and died May 13, 1936 less than a month after her baby Patricia Ann Tussey was born (April 18, 1936) She is buried in a cemetery southeast of Blossom, Texas in Lamar County. The second child was Carlton Felmet who I found last living in Flippin, Arkansas. I don't know if he is living or not. Their 3rd child was Clovis William Felmet. He was born April 29 1918 in Wade, Oklahoma he died September 23, 1983 in Dallas, Texas. He worked for the railroad. He married Myrtle Jones and had at least 2 children; a daughter born in 1936 and a son born in 1941. I've not found the daughter but the son is still living.

My great aunt Bessie Viola Standlee Felmet died January 12, 1922 and is buried in the Wade, Oklahoma cemetery. I have not been able to track down William Nimrod Felmet, though I have heard he remarried and had more children. I do have a picture of him packing a pistol taken when he was a young man.

Another of J. H. & R. E.'s sons is buried in the Nobility Cemetery west of Leonard; John K. and his wife Alameda and a child. They both died fairly young.
