St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, June 27, 1935, This Was News 57 Years Ago (1878): All of Main street turned out to see Haile's thresher go through town Monday. Just as they started up the west side hill, D.J. Fellows came driving down the hill with a load of hay. His team did not like the looks of the strange animal, then started on a race against time. In front of Ryan's residence, D. J. Lost his hat, then the load of hay commenced to waltz and the rack joined in but Mr. Fellows held on to the lines and finally stopped them.
