The names are all the same !! My grandfather, Michael Luke Feeney arrived USA in 1850 per census. His death cert states his parents as Peter Feeney and Catherine Bracken. I have used a researcher in Sligo, where I thought he was from, and just recently received notice that there are no records or his birth, or any other siblings born to Peter/Catherine Feeney (or O'Feeney) His birthdate has been given as Jan. 10, 1839.Altho various census records and children's birth certs give different birth years for Michael, the cert for his 1st child would make the 1839 date to be correct. Now as to Peter Feeney. The 1870 census shows a Peter, age 27 living in Chicago. His widowed mother, Catherine age 50 and his sister Margaret age 15 were living with him. I have tentatively held the opinion that Peter and my Michael were brothers..only
because my mother's daybook of 1929 has reference to taking her mother to visit Aunt Maggie. Peter's sister Margaret and my grandmother would be of the same age. I have contacted a researchers in Mayo and Roscommon to see if they can find any connections and I will let you know when I do.
Please note that I have a new address: old address will forward until 12/31
