Per family stories, my Feeneys went from Roscommon Ireland to PA to Elmira NY to LaSalle IL, to Chicago. Many Feeneys were in Elmira.
City Directories from Elmira show:
(1860-1865) Michael, Luke, James, John and Mary. (1865-1870) James, John, Michael, Luke and Mrs. Jane. (1870-1875) Michael, James, John, Luke, Peter,Frank and Robert.
(1875-1880) Michael, Annie, Francis, James, John, Luke, Peter, Anna, Rueben, Thomas.
(1880-1885) Michael, Mary A., Annie, Francis, James, John, Luke, Thomas, Bridget T, Kate, John W., and (1885-1890), Bridget T, Kate, Mary A., Michael, Michael J., John, John W., Thomas, Mary, and Luke.

1870 LaSalle, IL census shows a Luke, John, Ann, Bridget (widow). Per history of LaSalle Co., a John Feeney was one of 6 men who signed the original charter to create the city of LaSalle, in LaSalle Co., IL.

Chicago has many Feeney/Feenys and it appears many of them came from Sligo as well as those from Roscommon.

I'll be glad to share any of this information, if you think one of these may be yours.
