Hello, my line is:

John Fee Sr. (m. Sarah Stuart) died Huntingdon, Pa.-Col. John Fee m. Patience Kelley Huntingdon, Pa-David Fee m. Lucy Noe in Harlan-Preston Scott Fee m. Sarah Rice Farmer-Green Fee m. Helen Forrester-Bradley Fee m. Jerusha Ledford-Joe Fee m. Geneva Ledford

Joe and Geneva are my Paternal Grandparents. Now I am wondering how to trace John Fee Sr. Different online sources have his birthplace Ireland and Scotland, respectively.

I have heard the buffer theory that Scotts were given land in Ireland to act as a buffer between fueding Irish territories and then later given land in Appalachia to act as a buffer between angry native American attackers and British settlements. How could I find out if this was the scenerio with John Fee Sr.'s family?
