Richard: Your name most likely stems from the German Fehders that came over to Nova Scotia on the Sally in 1752. There has been extensive research on the name. Most had changed the spelling to Fader, and some to Feader or even Feather (which is the German translation of the name.) There are Fader books (2 volumes with picks etc) Let me know if I can look up some relatives for you.
