I had a grandfather named Stefan Fedak who was born in Wilkes Barre, Pa. around the turn of the cenrury. His father's name was John (spelling?). Stefan's parents took him back to Poland when he was 5 and he later returned to New York as a young man.(1920's?) As I understood it from my father, the name was properly pronounced as "Fedd-ock" which may explain the spelling change as we pronounce it Fee-dack. I have no information as to which part of Poland they were from.
