I am helping a friend research her family history. This is what we have pieced together so far. We are looking for ancestors and descendants of this Fecteau Family. Any help will be much appreciated!

Karen Roberts

Descendants of Unknown Fecteau

Generation No. 1

1. UNKNOWN1 FECTEAU was born Bet. 1782 - 1818 in Canada. He married UNKNOWN. She was born Bet. 1792 - 1816 in Canada.

Notes for UNKNOWN FECTEAU:
In the 1880 Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan census there is also a Felix Fecto, age 36, listed with his wife, Matilda, age 28, and their children Ulalia, age 9; Josephine, age 7; Frank, age 5; Hortense, age 3; and Lawrence, age 1. Felix and his parents were born in Canada. His wife was born in Michigan and her parents were born in Canada.

Further research will have to show if this is a brother of Frank and John Fecteau.

Children of UNKNOWN FECTEAU and UNKNOWN are:
2.       i.       FRANK2 FECTEAU, b. 1832, Canada.
ii.       JOHN FECTEAU, b. 1835, Canada.

Notes for JOHN FECTEAU:
John Fecteau is listed as living the household of his brother, Frank Fecteau, in the 1880 Detroit, Wayne Co., MI Census. His occupation is listed as Tinsmith.

Notes for ELIZABETH MCCURE:
Elizabeth's first name is listed as Betsey on the 1880 census. Her last name is listed on her son's, George M. Fecteau, death certificate.

Children of FRANK FECTEAU and ELIZABETH MCCURE are:

Frances is listed in the household of John B. Daigle in the 1880 Detroit, Wayne Co., MI census. In the 1830 Detroit, Wayne County Michigan Census shows Evelyn Fecteau, age 12 as of April 10, 1930. She is listed as the daughter of George M. Fecteau.

Her age on these census records leaves certain questions. Since George M. Fecteau's first wife did not die until October 13, 1918, Evelyn is actually either the step-daughter of of George M. Fecteau and Rosa M.'s daughter by a first marraige of Rosa's, or Evelyn was conceived out of wedlock and George and Rosa were married after Teresa Bigler Fecteau's death.
