Hello Julie, I am writing from Norway but I was born in England. I was surfing the web looking for info about my family history when I found your message. My grandmothers maiden name was Featherstone, and her family came from the north of England ( round the Stockton - north Yorkshire area.) We have little information really as my grandmother, Daisy May Featherstone - born 1886, died in 1917. However we do know her father was called Thomas Featherstone, and that there were several children. Two of the children were boys a John and a Willy or William. One of these boys, according to a long since passed away auntie, emigrated to Australia where he was supposed to have been an engineer and worked on the Sydney harbour bridge.According to the recently released 1900 census, John was born in 1891 and William in 1896. This might not be the William you are looking for but it is a coincidence that Thomas is also in his name. He would still have been a young man in 1918 though. You can always contact me if you think it might be the same person. Best wishes, Christopher Harris
