I recently discovered that my son-in-law and grandsons are descendants of Martha A. E. Featherston of Giles Co., TN. We didn't know her surname before I discovered the death certificates of two of her sons in the LDS TN Death Certificates on line. Both showed their mother's name as Martha Featherston. Their dad was John W. Taylor, and they were from Maury Co., TN. They were Graves Taylor and his brother Albert Taylor. I found Sarow Featherston in the 1850 Giles Co., TN census, and one of her children was Martha A. E. Featherston, born about 1831 in TN. That fit perfectly with what I had. My son-in-law's ancestor was John Wesley Taylor, born 16 Jan 1856. He moved to TX around 1800 and ended up in Callahan Co., TX. His older brother, Nathaniel G. "Nat" Taylor also moved to TX. Their parents have been our brick wall. We had no idea who Martha was nor who John W. Taylor's parents were. We still don't know anything about the Taylors. We think John W. Taylor was living with John L. Linen when the 1850 Giles Co., TN census was taken. They were wagon makers. John and Martha must have married 1850-1851. Nat Taylor was born Jan 1852.
I have seen the Public Trees on Ancestry, but I am really confused. I found R. R. Featherston in the 1840 Giles Co., TN census. The Public Trees show he was married to Sally Cary. Sarow could be Sarah "Sally". Some of the trees show Robert R. was the father of the children listed with Sarow in the 1850 census, but they also show that he lived in Fayette Co., KY. Were there 2 Robert Featherstons?
I sure need help with these folks and would be grateful for any help. Please contact me on this forum or at email@example.com
