My mother's family name is Fetherston. Her family in Ireland is primarily in Co. Roscommon (for the past 300 years or so). Fetherston and all its variant spellings is not a common surname in Ireland (much more prevalent in England, where the Fetherstons originated). Ardagh House, which was the stronghold of the Fetherstons/Featherson-Haughs, is in Co. Longford and is now a museum. Assuming Martin came to America as an adult he would be of the same generation (or earlier) as my gggrandfather, William Fetherston b. circa 1838, Co. Roscommon. Was Martin married when he came to America? His wife's name is of interest to me--I have Currans on my father's side of the family. I believe my Currans to be from the Worcester MA area (my ggrandmother's sister Mary married a Curran).
