George,
I did discover something of interest.
Christian Oplinger (1714-1798) x Barbara (1730-1803)
was the son of
Nicholas "Claus" Oplinger x Elizabeth.
The good part is that Christian and Barbara had four kids.
Are you ready?
1 Susanna Oplinger x George Feder
2 Anna Maria Oplinger x Peter Feder
3 Barbara Oplinger x Nicholas Zeller
4 John Oplinger x Suanna and then Eleanora and then another Eleanora.
So the Fetter ties are stronger than I thought. This links two independent Fetter families together as I would suspect that the two Feder boys are brothers. And how about that Zeller, is that a misread of Fetter?
And could John have married a Feder also?
Nicholas and Elizabeth lived in Tyrol, Europe, then in Lehigh Water Gap which is up above Allentown I think. Close to Mauch Chunk (Jim Thorpe) PA.
One other geographic clue is Lower Saliford Twp, PA which does not help me at all. Nicholas died here in 1730.
At the very least, it shifts the search to the Feder variation of the name.
