I have just read your message on the Cumberland Fearon and especially the bit about the very 18th Century titled pamphlet by Lt. Col SP Fearon. I have just received a copy of this from an aged relative who knew Shep Fearon. It was a fascinating account of the spread of one family, from Deane just to the south of Cockermouth, through their association with the East India Company. Some of his Tree is wrong, especially about my branch of the Fearons who came from Gilcrux about 5 miles NW of Cockermouth.
I have got back to about 1740 in my search but am also interested in the family of my great-grandfather John Fearon who ended up as Clerk of Cockermouth in the period 1890 to 1910.
