Unfortunately we need to span about a century of the unknown as my latest reference (I think) is:
1871 Census, Aston, Lozells Road (RG10/3154): Frederick W. FEARN, grandson, 11 (hence YoB c1859), scholar, PoB Warwickshire, Birmingham.
Frederick was Frederick William Victor Albert, grandson of Thomas, an electro metallurgist (this seems to have been a 'family trade'. Thomas was married to Caroline née WARREN. Regards ...... Doug
