Guadalupe "Ama" Faz Martinez, longtime resident of Poteet, Texas, entered eternal rest Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 3:00 A.M., at The Heights Nursing Home in Pleasanton, Texas, at the age of 86 years, 4 months, 1 day. Ama was born December 25, 1924, in Wilson County, Texas, the daughter of Pedro Faz and Felipa Torres Faz. She was a seamstress with Industrial Sewing Company in Dallas, Texas, where she lived for many years before moving to Poteet in 1987. Ama married Aniceto Martinez Jr., on April 28, 1946, at St. Phillip's Catholic Church in Poteet. Aniceto, Ama's beloved husband of 56 years, preceded her in death on August 4, 2002. Ama was a member of St. Phillip's Catholic Church in Poteet and a member of the Guadalupanas. Ama is survived by her children, Emilia Herrera; Gabino Martinez and wife Lucy, Rogelio Martinez and wife Anita, all of Dallas, Antonio Martinez and wife Maria Dolores of Austin, and Adam Guadalupe Martinez of Poteet; and her brother, Abelardo Faz of Poteet. Ama was preceded in death by her husband, Aniceto Martinez Jr.; her son-in-law, Victor Herrera; and her brothers, Macario Faz, Eziquel Faz, Refugio Faz, and Enacio Faz. Visitation began at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, and a rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Vinyard-Trevino Funeral Home Chapel in Jourdanton, Texas. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 28, 2011, at St. Phillip's Catholic Church in Poteet, officiated by Father Albert Lelo. Interment followed at San Pedro Cemetery in Poteet. Serving as pallbearers were Emmanuel Martinez, Armando Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Arthur Martinez, Carlos Martinez, and Eddie Herrera.
Tia was my dads (Ascension H. Faz) aunt, I wish someone would have told him so he could have gone to the funeral but he did not find out until a week later. Tia was the only aunt he had left there is a uncle but has not seen him in a while. My dad just turn 86 years old May 18, 2011
May she RIP we will miss you tia Lupe I remember the time we spend together last year with my sister, dad, my husband and Adan. we will never forget you.
