Fawler Family Genealogy Forum

I'm not related but I came across a John Fawler who married a Jone Boeman on 4 Feb 1655 in St. Nicholas, Rochester, Kent, England. There is also a listing of wills at www.genuki.org.uk Go to the listing for Wiltshire County and scroll down to Nick Hidden's abstract list. There are some Fawlers there from the 1600s. I came across this surname after searching for spelling variations of the surname Follett. It is usually pronounced Fallit here in the USA. But someone from Scotland told me that in their country it is pronouced Fawlay. I am descended from Folletts (Foliot, Folliott)from we think Devon, England. Some of them were mariners and shipowners in the 1600s. Some of them went to America in the same time period. What I find curious is many of the Fawlers listed in the wills are from Chilton Foliat. I am almost sure that Foliat is another variant of Follett. Happy Hunting!
