Debbie, my three times greatgrandfather was a Richard Fawkes married to a Susannah Pardoe. They lived in Hartlebury, Worcestershire. Richard was born in Hanley Castle, near Malvern and he was a boatman. Do you know what your Richard did? His forebears also came from Hanley Castle, but is grandfather Richard Faux was of Madresfield which is very close to Newland.
