Attending a wedding at the San Luis Rey mission (King of the Missions) in San Diego this spring, I strolled the graveyard. Looking down it was the marked grave of one "Guy Fox". I never made the connetion to Guy Fawlks (and his day) but it is conceivable with the literacy rate in the early 1800's that this might be of use to you in your search.
