I have a large number of the clan Fawcus in my family tree. Rotherham in South Yorkshire holds a large collection of the clan. Bristol in Avon had a large collection at the turn of the centuary. There are other families in Gloucestershire and the Newcastle area. Mining and quarrying are the most popular occupations.

I know of 14 who emigrated to the USA in the 1880-1920 era.

My mother once told me of a male Fawcus relative who emegrated to australia. I did not keep a family tree at the time. The only other comment I remember was that "he" had a son who served in the Australian Navy during WWII. A bit vague I know... but thats my memory. However in keeping with the tradition my daughter Maxine has emigrated to Australia....

I hope that this is of use.
