Dear Sue,
I'm looking for the birthplace/parents of my g-g-g-g-grandfather William Fossitt who was born in Pennsylvania between 1770-75.His wife's name was Mary or MaryAnn and they had one son (for sure) in PA in 1805 (John). Then William and family migrated to Clermont County, OH just east of Cincinnati.Do you have any record of a William Fossitt born in that time frame (1770-75) from the families you are studying?
Also, I've read several messages that concern a Thomas Fawcett who killed General Braddock during the French/Indian War.I searched for articles on this subject but none claim that Braddock was killed by one of his own men (or any specific person). They just say he died four days after being shot in battle east of Fort Deuquene. Can you email me the description of the Gen. Braddock story you have?
Thank you very much,
Chris Fossitt
ps: Please don't let the spelling of my surname throw you. I've been desperately searching PA records for my ancestors for about a year now....and none of the "Fossitt" families I've found have been recorded with that spelling.I believe that my ancestors spelled everything phonetically and the spelling stuck from the mid-1800s down.
