Bea-

My family comes from Oklahoma, and it has always been Fah-v-ray. ALWAYS. You have to remember, too, there are more than one vein of Favres in the United States. The main vein is, yes, French, French/Cajun. But there is a vein that comes straight out of Switzerland, that was originally German.

But, as you say, that person pronounces the way they see fit- My 9 year cousin has a heck of a time with it- he asked me why we can't change our pronounciation to sound like Brett's- I told him that his Swiss/German ancestors would roll in their graves. We are all unique individuals, and it is no fun being picked on, due to a celebrity family member. Brett hung over my head in school - my classmates wouldn't leave me alone for the autographs. I told them there was no relation, and when I said that, the nicknames that the bullies used to seriously butcher the name. My grandfather was very adamant about the pronounciation. And boy, if you strayed, he corrected you over and over until you got it right.

Regardless of the sound, I'm still a huge Green Bay fan!

Keittaa
