Fance in Maldon area of Essex, England
I have the following in my Fance Family History. Maldon is very much in the same area as Purleigh, Stow Maries the birthplace of John Faunce who went to Plymouth, MA. Could this be the same family?
Edward Fance was born between 1550 and 1560. He was a free burgess of Maldon,
Essex and was described as a "gardiner". He married Bridget Johnjohns at All Saints,
Maldon, 26th July 1594. He had two sons.He died 8th May 1605 and was buried at
Maldon.
1. John Fance bap.2nd April 1597 at All Saints, Maldon, and probably buried there,11th
May 1598.
2. Thomas Fance bap.20th June 1602 at All Saints, Maldon. He m. Margaret Hoy, 18th
Oct 1628 at St.Peters, Maldon. He was admitted as a Freeman of Maldon,17th Oct 1631,
and was also described as "gardiner". He was buried at All Saints, Maldon, 27th May
1664. She was buried at All Saints, Maldon, 15th Sep 1667. They had three sons and five
daughters.
