Larry,
Thanks for your message and its abundant information. It's nice to hear from someone who is knowledgeable about persons in both Faunce camps.
Faunce Taylor remains a mystery, as does the origin of the very strong connection that existed between that Taylor family and the Coddings. If there is a connection, it may be through Faunce.
I'm not sure Faunce Taylor is the same person as the Fally Taylor you are talking about, but then I don't know. The Fally Taylor I'm aware of was a woman who died in East Bloomfield in 1836. She seems to have had an Adams connection. There were Adamses in Bristol in the vicinity of the Coddings, I believe.
Faunce Taylor clearly was a member of the family of Capt. Joseph Taylor of Bristol, maybe a son or brother, probably the former, I would think. I am beginning to realize that Capt. Taylor was from Connecticut, in the area of Middletown and Haddam.
Through the Codding-Faunce relationship, do you happen to know whether the Coddings were at any time in Connecticut, as they resettled to Bristol in Ontario County, NY, from their home in Bristol County, Massachusetts?
If you'll look at my messages in other parts of this Faunce Codding/Faunce Taylor GenForum exchange, you'll see that I corrected my mistake about Mary Richmond. I had confused George Codding, Sr., whose only two wives were Mary Faunce and Sarah Thayer, with George Codding, Jr., his son, whose wife was Mary Richmond. George and Mary (Richmond) Codding, Jr., were childless.
John
