Audrey, my guess is that your Jacob's father was probably William. William was John's son and he appeared to use the Fortenberry spelling. Also if your Jacob named his son William it could be that his son was named after his father. A guess only. William was born in 1772 and his wife was a Kennington. Another popular name in our area.
