Hi Deanna ( my sister-in-law is named Deanna also - are you named after Deanna Durbin , the singer and actress, also??
Sorry to be so long in getting back to you - this info may help:Last summer I went to St John the Baptist Parish, to the library in Laplace. In the genealogy dept., they have some books about early settlers of the parish compiled by a woman who did a lot of research on about 10 families, including the Faucheux's - for the life of me I can't remember her name, but if you called the library I'm sure they could give it to you.
She had an index card file as well as family group sheets on countless families.I looked back thru all the stuff I copied and found a card for a Louis Faucheux - born 1809.
This is what is written on the index card:
FAUCHEUX
Louis Faucheux
h/o (husband of)Melanie Hymel
s/o (son of) Louis Faucheux and Francoise Roger
b.- ca. 1809
d. - 12 Aug. 1857 ( buried 13 Aug.)
St John the Bap ChurchFunerals Vol4, pg 99
I only copied the family group sheets for my direct ancestors, but I did copy all of the Faucheux index cards.I'm sure that she probably did family group sheets on both Louis' - father and son.If so, they would provide you with lots of info.
This woman - arggg!! the name?? - spent years on this project, and when she died, it was published and bound and copies given to several universities in La . and to some libraries. If you live anywhere near there, I'd check it out.Otherwise, call them, as they are very helpful and maybe could help you over the phone.
I'm originally from Covington, La. - I now live in Texas. From the research I've done, I'm convinced that all of the Faucheux's _ with or without the "A", came over on the same boat!!So, cousin (!), GOOD LUCK!!
