Tombstone inscription from Aubrey Dry, Sr. to me by e-mail 24 Jun 1999. He is married to a descendant of Levi's daughter and photographed the stone before it was (probably ) destroyed. Material in parentheses is best guess of Mr. Dry. Mr. Dry says that on a trip they stopped by Bear Creek Cem. They found the stone "in a pile of rubble," reassembled it and took pictures. Levi's inscription was on one side and Samantha's on the other. SACRED to the memory of SAMANTHA FATHEREE Consort of Levi Fatheree Who lived a virtuous, respectable, and pious life, beloved esteemed and venerated as a Mother, leaving the pleasing consolation a(nd ad) -monition to her surviving (spouse) to meet her in Heaven. And died June 24th, 1843: Age 60 years 7 months and 12 days. SACRED to the memory of LEVI FATHEREE Who lived a pious and Christian life, beloved as a Father and worthy of the appellation and (memory) to the numerous Family (with pl)easing consolation that he (is a)t rest in peace beyond the (vast sk)y Died July 16th, 1843 (62 ye)ars, 5 mo. and 12 days Mr. Dry says he chose the number 62 for Levi's age based on the belief that Levi was the unborn child referred to in Hilliard Fatheree's will of Nov. 1780 and that he was brother to Ebenezer, Reading, and Hilliard (Jr.)also mentioned in the will. That would make him born in Feb 1781. Notify Administrator about this message?
