My greatgrandfather Jacob Fast(Faust) b-1834 and his wife Kathrina (Waldner) Fast came to New York via the S.S Gellert on July 29, 1876 with their children: Jacob b- 1859, Cahterine b-1861, Marie b-1867, David b-1872 and Elizabeth b-1875. They moved to Freeman, SD and were listed in the 1880 Federal Census along with one more son Joseph, who was my grandfather.
I can not seem to find additional information on gg Jacob and need help. I did find a Jacob Kornelius Fast born in 1788 in Preussen with a wife Katharina (?) and a son Jacob born in Russia in 1834. Which seems to fit but questionable.
Jacob sr., was a mennonite while Kathrina was a Hutterite, if this will help any of to solve this problem... Thanks
