Faust is not the last name of William Richter's wife. William and Barbara had a son named John Richter. He served in the Civil War. I have his death certificate which boldly indicates his mother's name is BARBARA RINGER.
William Richter's father's name is John Richter (bef 1756 - aft 1830). He was residing in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and then moved to what would later become Saltlick Township, Fayatte County. William Richter, born about 1789, stayed behind and married Barbara Ringer in Addison Township, Somerset County. She was only 15 or 16 at the time of their marriage. They had a daughter in 1819 with several more children later. (I have the names of these children and who they married.)
John Richter, William's father died after the 1830 census. It is shortly before that William Richter moved his family to Saltlick Township, to possibly care for his aging father or for inherited land. A creek in Fayette County named Richter Run is believed to have been named after John Richter.
William Richter died in February 1849 in what was then known as Yohiogheny Township, Fayette County. The township was later disolved and divided to other townships. Saltlick Township was then expanded covering the land where the Richter farm was located.
I have the February 1849 Will of William Richter.
