Andrew J. Farren - W. Pa & Mich
I am researching my Great great Uncle, Andrew J. Farren, for an article on his Civil War exploits. He was the brother of Mary Abigail Farren Armstrong (my great great grandmother). Andrew b 10/7/1844 d. 12/12/1912 was the son of Andrew B. and Margaret Ramsey of Indiana County, Pa. He was married to Rosa V. Parks and they lived in Mason, Michigan after 1870. I have Andrews military and pension records from the Civil War and a copy of his Obituary. Andrew was a private in Company F of the 55th Regiment of Pa Volunteers. He was captured at Edisto Island, SC on 3/29/1862 and spent 6 months in Confederate POW camps, was paroled at Richmond Va and reenlisted in the 55th in Jan 1864. He was wounded at Fort Fisher in Jan 1865 by Confederate artillery while on detached duty with the 3rd US Artillery. He was a prominent stonemason after the war in Mason MI where he is buried. Anyone with any additional information about Andrew would be greatly appreciated. I will reciprocate with the info I have on him.
