Ferrell vs. Farrell?
Posted by: Katie Ferrell Date: March 02, 1998 at 13:43:36

Can anyone give me a history on the change of spelling
from Farrell to Ferrell?? From what I've read the name traces
back to Longford, Ireland maybe around 1200? It was originally
O'Fearghill...then to O'Farrell and then the O was dropped.
But when the switch to Ferrell? Or is this name from a different
heritage than Farrell.?
