Do not know anything up to date about Canadian records - some years ago they were very much behind the times- genealogically but maybe they have been liberated in the meantime - I do not know. Maybe ancestry.com can help.An earlier record might give his age and one could back calculate from this to find his dob.
Had a look at the current Irish telephone directory in this traditional Farrell area ie Irish midlands - while there are 2 R. Farrells, there is no Raymond Farrell - all a clear indication of the rare combination of Raymond with the Farrell surname and certainly increasing the possibility of finding the original ancestor over here. Its not easy however - one needs to tread carefully. Regards, Luke
