Looking for my husband's Great, Great Grandfather Farrell

OK...I'm new at this so I will do my best to explain myself. I'm looking for my husbands Great Great Grandfather Farrell. This is what I have so far: His grandfather is Raymond Wilson Farrell born in Seattle Washington July 22, 1916. His Father is Raymond Joseph Farrell born in British Columbia, Canada Jan. 24, 1892 and his mother is Elta Ezzetta Wilson. I trace him back to British Columbia, Canada living with his mother Martha (I believe her maiden name to be Phipps):1901 Census of Canada. She is listed as "widowed"...so what should my next step be in further tracing his ancestry back? I know that Raymond Joseph's dad is listed as being from Ireland on several census' in Seattle, Washington and on his Immigration/Naturalization records.
