Believe it or not 1900is rather too recent for genealogical purposes.
I am the Farrar DNA project administrator and have a huge gedcom (genealogical data base) on the Farrar's and allied families.
There were quite a few Sam or Samuel Farrar's, (was his name Sam or Samuel, do you know).
I checked http://www.mytexasgenealogy.com/tx-county-mclennan.htmlhttp://www.mytexasgenealogy.com/tx-county-mclennan.html
And discovered that McLennan Co is close to Leon Co, TEX
This is not proof of a connection. However a William G. Farrar(Farrow) married a Mariah Robeson (Roleson) in Perry Co, Alabama in 1841, he had three children in Perry Co, he was living there in the 1850 Census (marriage records show him as Farrow, Census as Farrar, Alabama Notes show him as Wm G Farrar son of Epsie Farrar).
In 1858 he migrated to Leon County Texas which is close to McLennan, he was in the 1860 Census, but the Farrar's disappeared after that, except that the daughter Margaret A. Farrar married and died young, and their youngest Son Sam Farrow (Farrar) shows up in the 1880 Census of Leon Co Tex as age 20, this could be the grandfather of your Sam Farrar.
You can google Leon Co, Texas genealogy.\
Do you have any male relatives surnamed Farrar, that might be interested in joining the Farrar DNA project, you can check us out at http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/farrar/patshttp://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/farrar/pats and after reading that post with pedigrees click on Y results.
If you do they need to test at least Y 37 (that is 37 DNA Y segment markers) to find a recent common ancestor.
