Wow you do have a lot of information on the family.
You have the same style as my cozen Clyde Barnett.
I know that is in contact with Cobi Ravillous, are you related?
Clyde has been a great mentor (and he's almost 10 years younger).
How did you find out Percival Skerme was a fishmonger, where do you get this stuff?
Could you share with me the Farrar family tree from William the Immigrant on back.I've run into brick walls.
I've also run into spurious family trees, such as one that claims that Henry Ferror was descended from the Ferrers of Groby (impossible as that line died out) and from (lineal descent not my work, but my comments are in parenthesis.
1. Engenulf de Ferrieries b. abt. 0950 in Normandy France (Wrong it was Gwalklein des Ferreriis)
2. Henrey de Ferrieries b. about 0980 Normandy France
3. Walckenlin (William) de Ferrieries b. abt. 1010 Tutbury Staffordshire, England
4. Lord of Ferries Henry Ferrier b. abt. 1036 Ferrie, Gastenios, Normandy France
5. Earl of Derby Robert de. Ferrers b. abt. 1062 Derbyshire, England
6. Earl of Derby William de Ferrers b. abt. 1140 of, Oakham, Rutlandshire, Eng
7. Earl of Derby William Ferrers. b. abt. 1162 Derby, Derbyshire, Eng
8. Earl of Derby William Ferrers b. abt. 1193 Ferrers, Derby Derbyshire, Eng
9. Earl of Derby Robert de Ferrers b. abt. 1239 Derby, Derbyshire, Eng (sided in revolt against Henry III, imprisoned and pardoned by Edward l, longshanks, but lost Earldom of Derby).
10. Sir John de Ferrers b. abt. 1270 Eng
11. William Ferrars b. abt 1290
12. Daron of Groby Henry Ferrars. b. abt 1303 Groby, Leicestershire, Eng
13. Daron Of Groby William Ferrar b. abt 8 Jan. 1333 Groby, Leicestershire, Eng
14. Baron of Groby Henry Ferrers, abt. abt. 1349 Tiltey, Abbey, Tiltey, Dunmon, Essex
15. Baron of Groby William Ferrers b. abt. 25 Apr Groby, Warkickshire, Eng (See Baddesley Clinton, it's manor, church, hall etc..google it, it's in pdf, "With him the barony of Ferrers of Groby terminated in the male line.. since hiseldest son, Sir Henry de Ferrers dyingin his father's lifetime.. the barony passed on his death to his grand daughter Elizabeth, who carried it in marriage to the family of Grey".his youngest son, Sir Thomas Ferrers, married Elizabeth, one of the sisters and coheirs of Sir Baldwin de Frevile, knt, of Tamworth Castle. Issue Thomas born 1422, who continued the line at Tamworth, and Henry, subsequently of Hambleton county Rutland, from whom the Ferrers of Baddesly Clinton trace their descent.)
16. Henry Farrarabt. 1393 Ragland Monmouthshire, Eng married Isabel Mobray b. abt. 1400 Bristol, Gloucestershire, England d. abt. 29 Sept. 1452 Berkeley Castle, Berkeley, Gloucestershire, Eng(This is the Henry mentioned above who died in his fathers lifetime whose only heir was his dtr Elizabeth).
17. Henry Farror b. abt. 18 May 1440 Ewood Hall, Halifax, Yorkshire, Eng Married Margaret Heckstall b. abt. 1442 Chillesome, Warwickshire, Eng (This is actually the grandson of above William de Ferrers with whom the Barony of Groby passed to the Grey family.) He was the son of Thomas Ferrers, youngest son of said William. He is known as Sir Henry Ferrers of Hambleton, county Rutland, was the second son of Sir Thomas Ferrers, knt, of Tamworth Castle, by his wife Ellizabeth, daughter and ultimately coheiress of Sir Baldwin Frevile, knt (whodied October 4,1400) .... Sir Henry married Margaret daughter and co heir of of William Heckstall had issue Edward, his heir, Richard, Margaret and and a younger daughter Elizabeth. There is no son Henry mentioned, yetsome claim that #17 Henry Farror, b abt 18 May 1440 is the son of this Henry)
17. Henry Farror b. abt. 18 May 1440 Ewood Hall, Halifax, Yorkshire, Eng
(This is where the lineage starts as regards the Farrar's, there is no documentation as regards the parentage of Henry Ferror who purchased the land and built in 1471 Ewood manor, which by the way was burnt to the ground in 1647 by Royalist forces.)
18. Henrie Farrar b. abt. 1463 Ewood Hall Halifax, Yorkshire, Eng
19. Henrie Ferror Jr. b. abt. 1494 Ewood Hall Halifax, Yorkshire, Eng
If you happen to have any information at all on the parentage and lineage of Henry Ferror, father of William, father of John, who was father of William Farrar who married Cecily widow Jordan (and to my knowledge her maiden name is still unknown, although the latest information I have seen is that she was a Fludd) I would appreciate it.
Otherwise it appears that said Henry Ferror was a man of ordinery parentage that just happened to come into his own, by marriage or hard work. Extremely rare during the reign of Edward IV, as social mobility did not surface until the 1600's.
I would love to connect the dots, but attempts (like the above which try to link the family to dead ends are not helpful)
Is there a chance to continue this via Email?
