Dear Boots, The Henry Farrar (or Farrer) you mention was the elder brother of John (who bought Ewood from Henry) and William, our ancestor/the emigrant. There is a very interesting pedigree of Henry's descendants, the eldest branch of the family, called Farrer of Ingleborough [Foster, Pedigrees of the County Families of Yorkshire, Vol. I; also carefully, see Burke, A Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Landed Gentry (1855), pp. 372-3]. Among Henry Farrer's descendants, we find Walter Stafford Northcote, 2nd Earl of Iddesleigh (d. 26 May 1927) and the succeeding Earls of Iddesleigh; Flora Louisa Cecilia MacLeod, of MacLeod; Sir Anthony Thomas Farrer, 5th Baron Farrer of Abinger; and Sir Anthony's aunt Emma Cecilia Farrer, the wife of Sir Horace Darwin and thereby daughter-in-law of Charles Darwin. Emma's father, Thomas Henry Farrer of Abinger Hall, was a close friend of Charles Darwin. No shortage of interesting relatives! John Notify Administrator about this message?
