William H. Farrar, Nelson Co., VA (m. Esther McClain)
I believe, but have not been able to prove (yet) that Henry Farrar was one of William H. Farrar's sons. Henry was born between 1825-1829 in Nelson Co.
He married Elizabeth Ann Raines/Raynes/Rains on 24 Aug 1846 in Nelson. In 1850 his nearest neighbors were William H. Farrar, John McClain (Esther's brother) and Willliam Raines (Elizabeth's father).
I did see a post where Alvahn Holmes' book mentioned a
William H. Farrar and the fact that he had at least 7 children. For whatever reason, this branch of Farrars were left out of the book. Can anyone confirm who William H. Farrar's father was?
Henry Farrar left Nelson after 1850 and migrated to Lewis
County, VA (now Upshur County, WV). He and Elizabeth had a total of 7 children, 4 of which lived to adulthood. Henry joined the Union Army in 1861, was wounded in 1863 and died of disease on 29 Nov 1863.
I have accounted for all of Henry descendants and will gladly share that information with anyone interested.
