After one of the Lonesome Dove episodes I was curious about the origins of the King Ranch especially since I knew that King County, WA was originally named for V.P. King but later changed to honor Martin Luther King.I learned that the ranch was owned and started by Capt. Richard King, an Irish-American from New York City, who had a colorful history as a steamship captain before becoming a rancher.
Don't think there's any connection with my King family.
But there's a Barnett connection to John Wesley Hardin and Lyndon Baines Johnson. Some think both are "the devil" others say that the twoare opposite ends of the spectrum.I try not to judge only look for causality.
I'm really interested in that bible. If it's the bible of whichMr. Taunton wrote about "being in Georgia" send me an emailwith specific information and maybe we can arrange for a cousin to visit with the owner, make a transcription, and photos. Most people don't know it but scanning an older bible is really not a good idea because it so easy to cause damage.Photos especially digital are a much better idea.
Seems like we've come full circle. As I understand it your family is:
Stephen David Farrar (1757-1805)
Thomas Jefferson Farrar (1793-1859)
William Thomas Farrar (1816-after 1880 )
Andrew Bass Farrar (1850-1931)
William Thomas Farrar.Sr (1883-1972)
William Thomas Farrar,Jr (1917-1961)

According to what we've discussed in this forum thread there is some controversy about William ThomasFarrar and William G Farrar in the Perry County record including the 1850 census, but it is known that William Farrar, the son of Thomas Jefferson Farrar (1793-1859), married Jerusah Bass. There may be more than one William Farrar in Perry County during the 1850 census as William G Farrar who married Mariah Roleson (possibly Robeson or Robison) is enumerated but is a differentfamily who moved to Leon, TX.
There are other William Farrars counted in the 1850 census including William Farrar who married Sarah Baker and William Farrar (1798-1865) who lived in Benton County, Tennessee.
We've also discussed the Farrar families in the 1790 Old Pendleton, SC census and the possibility that they are related to Stephen David Farrar (1757-1805).Leonard Farrar (1764-183) and Seth Farrar (?-1794) are counted in the 1780 Pendleton, SC Census near a Richard Farrar who my be their father.Seth Farrar died in 1794.

Based on the fact that Seth Farrar died in 1794, Stephen David Farrar and Seth Farrar can not be the same person. It is known that Leonard Farrar (1764-1836) served one tour of duty for his brother-in-law, Meshack Stevens (Stephens) and that Meshack Stepvens wife was Milley Farrar.Meschack and Milley Stevens named a son, Shadrack, presumbally after Leonard's and Milley's brother, Shadrack Farrar (1757-1781)

It is possible that not all of these families are related but that locations, dates, and names are coincidences, although it is my belief that some of these families descend from the Farrar Island family of William Farrar and Ceciley Jordan.I also believe that as participation in the Farrar Family DNA Project increases we will find more reason to search for primary documents because we will know that the families are biological related and share a "most recent common ancestor."
I've already published more about my family than I attended because neither Aunt Mabel nor I have intended to publish but to share and get the facts correct.
We've always had little more than personal knowledge about my ggg-grandafther Richard Farrow (1782-1868) who married Hannah Warren 1815 in Spartranburg, SC but now with new information I'm hopefully we can establish a link with Richard's parents and family.
This is my line:
Richard Farrow (1782-1868)
Susannah Farrow (1818-1913)
Martha Elizabeth HAynes (1846-1931)
Emma Caroline Weaver (1884-1977)

Because of the length and complexity of our discussion I will continue to monitor but not post any additional comments to this thread.I only hope that Connie Jones and Sonia Caldwell have monitored it and will check any facts I've written about the family Missouri family because I believe you and possibly I have a "most recent common ancestor" with them.
You have my email address, I'll send you the other part of our Barnett historywhich I sent by email. It may help with your decision about the Farrar DNA project.Hope to hear from you soon.
Clyde
