Hi Randy,
Thank you for your response. It is interesting that we pronounce it differently. Are you here in VA? I wonder how far back that started.My line and the other Farrar lines that I have met here in VA put the emphasis on the "Far" (pronouncing it "Fair") and the ra or rah at the end trails off and is softer. This is the way my Grandfather, Bejamin Franklin Farrar, b. 1901 in Albemarle Co., VA and his parents pronounced it. His father, Charles Clark Farrar being born Oct. 1858 in Nelson Co., VA.
