Hello Jen,
Came across your message on the Kelke Family GenForum, and came back to your message (on Farrar GenForum) above.
I haven't seen the details behind your message, but William Farrar's ancestry has been traced to Edward I, King of England (1272-1307) on two lines, via the family of Lord Hastings and Lord le Despenser, and via the family of Lord Morley and the Earls of Suffolk and Stafford [see David Faris, Plantagenet Ancestry of 17th Century Colonists - 2nd edition, 1999].
I have also traced his ancestry through the family of Sir Martin de la See and his wife Elizabeth Wentworth to King Edward III of England (1327-1377), which has led to three additional lines traced to King Edward I.
The ancestry for William Farrar leads to the family of Charlemagne (or Charles the Great, king of the Franks and lst Holy Roman Emperor). The very earliest ancestors that can be shown as proven are Charlemagne's ggg grandfathers, Pepin of Heristal, major domo ["mayor of the palace"] to the Merovingian King of Austrasia ca. 640, and St. Arnulf, Bishop of Metz.Any earlier claims are theoretical at best, based on some reasonable conjecture in some cases and a bit of make-believe and uncertainty in most cases.I wouldn't put any stock in recitations of earlier dates and ancestors.
Hope this helps.
Your cousin, John
