We have traced my branch of the Farrant family from East Budleigh (mid 19th century) back to references of Farrants in Aylesbeare and Rockbeare in the mid 16th century, when parish records started.
Wanting information on William Farrant(born 1810 East Budleigh) who married Jane Williams (1843). His father was Thomas Farrant (born 1781 East Budleigh) married Sarah Hillman (1806). His father was Joseph Farrant who married a Joan (surname unknown). His father Thomas Farrant married Elizabeth (surname unknown.
As an interesting aside, when in Exeter Library I found a book called "Devon Worthies", published 1821. A William Ferrand, ancestor of the Farrants of "Farrants Farm" at Clyst Hydon was one of a group of Norman "adventurers" who went to Ireland as part of an expeditionary force in 1292. Could this Norman adventurer be our original ancestor? - Clyst Hydon is a stones throw from Rockbeare.
Any points of view would be welcomed.
