I have found another bit of farquharson information, which is as follows:
Extract of letter from Mr John Farquharson
37 Westburn Road
Aberdeen
"F's placed in van of Highland Army at Culloden were nearly wiped out - survivers hunted like wild beasts - deposited to foriegn plantations.
(Culloden ws 1745)
William F fought for the Hanovarians, John and Charles for the Stuarts. Both were afterwards captured.Johnbeing an officer was sentenced to die on Kensington Common, but was reprieved when his foot was practically on the scaffold.Bothe were deported.
25years later Charles came home and died at Iniscacauld (very indistinct) Aberdeenshire where he was acting as Chamberlain about 1800.
Alexander Farquharson Jobshill, St Mary's Jamaica - had the second largest number of slaves held by any one planter in the island.Died intestate leaving a widow and four sons very badly off."
This page was with the one I one the other day - so I am sure it relates to the same Farquharson's in Jamaica. But I can't make much sense out of the relationships! It is like a jig-saw puzzle with most of the pieces missing.
Victoria Huddleston.
