Sir Walter Farquhar, born circa 1740 in Aberdeen and educated at the Marischal College in Scotland, and was later appointed the physician to the Prince Regent. Sir Walter's wife, Lady Ann, when she married Sir Walter in 1771 in London, was a Widow. She was the fourth daughter of either Alexander or Thomas Stephenson of Barbados.
Ann Harvie, had married Dr.Thomas Harvie in circa 1862 in Jamaica, Caribbean. They had one daughter Elizabeth Harvie before Dr. Thomas Harvie died. Their daughter Elizabeth, later married Simon Halliday in circa 1787.
Sir Walter thought so much of Ann's first husband Dr. Thomas Harvie, they names their first born son, Thomas Harvie Farquhar (the 2nd Baronet).
Sir Walter and Lady Ann Farquhar, had three sons, Thomas Harvie Farquhar, Walter Farquhar and Robert Townsend Farquhar, and four daughters, Ann, Charity, Catherine and Elizabeth.
Does anyone know anything about the Caribbean connection, especially Dr. Thomas Harvie. I believe the Farquhars may have owned plantations on the islands. Also, the Hallidays, and the Mathisons also owned property in the Caribbean. Elizabeth Halliday (nee Harvie) was the half sister of Catherine (Kitty) Mathison (nee Farquhar).
