Milk River Pioneer Dies in California
Special to the Tribune
Harlem, Sept. 6 –
A telegram was received here Wednesday morning stating that Mrs. Harris Farnum, one of the pioneers of the Milk River valley, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elsie Colegrove, in Oakland, Cal. The body has been shipped to this city for burial and funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock in the Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in the Harlem cemetery beside her husband, who died several years ago. Mrs. Colegrove will accompany the body here.
Mrs. Farnum was among the oldest residents of the Milk River valley. She came here with her husband more than 30 years ago from Massachusetts and settled on land three miles west of town, which has recently been purchased by Clifford Crooks and G.C. Munsee. After the death of her husband, she went to Oakland to live with her daughter, Mrs. Emma Merril. Later she came back to Harlem and lived with her daughter, Mrs. Elsie Colegrove, who moved to Oakland only two months ago and took her along.
