The Clarinda Herald has the following account of a pleasant reunion of the Farnes family who lived in this county years ago; "There was a jolly reunion last Saturday at the home of Henry Farnes, in north Clarinda. All the children living except three of Mr. and Mrs. Farnes were present for the first time in 17 years, and the jolliest part of it is that none of the sons or daughters knew that the others would visit the old home at the time they did, so that the reunion was planned on short notice and was a surprise all around.
Forty-seven sat down to dinner at the Farnes mansion Saturday, the company consisting of the father and mother; all their children but three, and over a score or more of grandchildren. Besides the children residing in Clarinda and vicinity, there were present from abroad, Mr. and Mrs. E. Shower, of Davis County, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Farnes; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Painter, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farnes, all of Kansas.
The reunion will long be a pleasant memory in the minds of the participants. The congratulations of their host of friends are with Mr. and Mrs. Farnes in thus being able to meet in their old age their children and grandchildren in happy reunion. May they yet live many years enjoying unbounded happiness."
